What is SAP CPI?

A new employee joins. HR enters her in SAP SuccessFactors, but payroll, the finance system and the access card system all need her details too. Without integration, someone types the same data four times, and one typo means a wrong salary or a locked door on day one.

SAP CPI, short for SAP Cloud Platform Integration, is the SAP cloud tool that moves this data between systems automatically. SAP now calls it Cloud Integration, part of SAP Integration Suite on SAP BTP, but most people and job posts still say CPI. You build integration flows, called iFlows, that receive a message, change its format, decide where it should go and deliver it securely. Next, you get to know the tool itself: the web interface, the design and monitor areas, packages, prebuilt integration content, and how a tenant is organised.

Basic Building Blocks of an Integration Scenario

Here you learn the parts every iFlow is made of: sender and receiver, adapters, the message and its headers and properties, and steps such as content modifiers, routers, converters and mappings.

Twitter Basic Scenario: Foundation, Advanced and Extended

Then you build a real flow in three rounds, using a social media source (Twitter, now X) as the example. In the foundation round, you connect to the source and read data. In the advanced round, you filter, convert and map it. In the extended round, you add routing, scripts and more steps. The same pattern works with any REST API, which is why it is such a useful way to learn.

Concepts of Secure Communication

Integration moves sensitive data, so security is not optional. You learn transport security, certificates and keystores, basic authentication versus OAuth, and how to set up trust between systems.

Other Security Aspects

Next, you cover user roles, credentials stored safely on the tenant, and message-level security such as signing and encryption.

Operations and Monitoring

Building a flow is half the job. In this module, you deploy iFlows, read the message monitor, trace a failed message, and fix the cause, which is what most support work looks like day to day.

The SAP CPI training runs for 8 weeks, with 2-hour live classes in a weekday or weekend batch. The fee at Zeblearn is ₹75,000, and you can pay in EMIs. This covers live classes, practice, recordings, the course certificate and placement support. The SAP exam fee is paid to SAP separately.

SAP CPI vs SAP PI/PO: Should You Still Learn PI/PO?

This is a common doubt, especially for people already working on SAP PI/PO. SAP has announced the end of mainstream maintenance for SAP Process Orchestration 7.5 at the end of 2027, and it points customers towards SAP Integration Suite. As a result, many companies are moving their PI/PO interfaces to Cloud Integration. So PI/PO knowledge still helps, because you understand the old interfaces being moved, but new project work is mostly in CPI. For PI/PO consultants, SAP CPI training, which is in effect SAP Integration Suite training, is the natural next step rather than a fresh start.
