What is SAP API Management?

SAP API Management is the part of SAP Integration Suite that lets a company share its data and services safely as APIs. An API (Application Programming Interface) is a door that lets one system ask another for data, such as a mobile app asking SAP for order status. SAP API Management decides who can use that door, how often, and keeps a record of every visit.

Policies are the rules you attach to an API proxy. You learn the most used SAP API Management policies: checking API keys and OAuth tokens for security, Spike Arrest and Quota to control traffic, Response Cache to speed up repeated calls, and policies that change or check messages as they pass through.

Developer Portal and API Products

Developers need a place to find your APIs and ask for access. You learn to group APIs into products, publish them on the developer portal, and manage the applications and keys that developers use to call them.

API Analytics and Monitoring

Once APIs are live, you need to know how they are used. You learn to read analytics dashboards that show traffic, response times and errors, so you can spot problems early and plan for growth.

SAP API Management vs SAP Cloud Integration (CPI)

Both are part of SAP Integration Suite, but they do different jobs. SAP Cloud Integration (CPI) moves and transforms data between systems through integration flows (iFlows). Should You Take the Integration Developer Exam?

If you want a full SAP Integration Suite profile, yes. This exam focuses mainly on data integration with Cloud Integration iFlows, so you would also need strong CPI skills.
